Lavender Shampoo Bar

£13.00

15 in stock

SKU: SHV1 Category:

The Lavender Shampoo Bar has a beautiful lilac colour. The calm, familiar scent of the essential oil paired with Brazilian purple clay results in a good all-round bar suitable for all hair types. The bar’s mild surfactants deliver a gentle, balanced cleanse. The purple clay is excellent at drawing out impurities, dirt and excess oil to leave hair clean and refreshed.

Suits: All hair types, effective cleaning while maintaining softness and balance.

Formulator's note: Lavender is a personal favourite that features in several Sugarbush products. It's calming, comforting and pairs naturally with so many other essential oils to create wonderful aromas. In these shampoo bars, the base ingredients are the same and it's the pairing of the essential oil and clay type that create the distinction. Brazilian purple clay is a gentle kaolin clay that cleans the scalp and hair without stripping it. It is rich in copper, selenium, magnesium, zinc and manganese.

What is a shampoo bar? A solid bar of surfactants, plant oils, butters and clay that lathers hair clean. There are several benefits to using a shampoo bar over a liquid but the top 3 are:

  • Little packaging - no plastic bottles to recycle.
  • Long lasting - a single bar can last for several months.
  • Travel friendly - no liquids and can be bought with a travel tin. This makes them refillable as well.

You can read more on switching to solid shampoo and conditioner in the blog.

Did you know: Lavender's name comes from the Latin lavare, meaning 'to wash'. The Romans famously scented their bathwater with it, so it's been part of hair and body care for over two thousand years.

Curious what these ingredient names mean? We’ve explained the key ones on our About Us page.

Using a shampoo bar for the first time can take some getting used to. Wet your hair thoroughly. You can either swipe the bar directly through your strands a few times and lather, or lather it briefly between your palms first before applying to your head. Work from roots to tips. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if you feel you need a deeper clean.

Each bar is a minimum of 80g and gives roughly 60 washes, working out at about 18p a wash. How far yours goes depends on your hair length and how often you wash. Even washing long hair four to five times a week, a bar can comfortably last three to four months (assuming no one else in the house borrows it!).

A gentle note on care: for external use only. Avoid direct eye contact and application to the mucous membranes or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Not suitable for children under the age of 3.

Watch how to use a shampoo and conditioner bar here.

Leave your bar to dry out fully between washes. Leaving it sitting in a puddle of water is the fastest way to shorten its life. A draining soap dish or a dish with holes works well. Once dry, it’s happy stored in one of our travel tins for the washbag or in the bathroom cupboard.
