Ylang Ylang, Rose & Jasmine Solid Lotion Bar

Our most indulgent solid lotion bar, rather than a liquid lotion in a bottle, that melts straight into dry skin.

There's a reason our customers regularly come back for this bar.  The combination of Ylang Ylang and Jasmine gives an alluring aroma while Rose ties the two together into something that feels a little more special than an everyday moisturiser. The result is an uplifting fragrance without being overpowering.

Suits: Dry, mature or normal skin that needs a richer, longer-lasting moisturiser. Not suitable for the face.

Formulators note: I wanted to include Jojoba as one of the main oils because its structure is closest to what your own skin already produces. While it looks like an oil, it’s more like a liquid wax that support your skin’s lipid barrier. It works with your skin to reduce water loss and is a fantastic moisturiser, even on its own.

What is a lotion bar? A lotion bar is a solid replacement that you use to moisturise your skin. The principles for both a bar and liquid cream are the same. The difference is a bar is made up of plant oils, butters and waxes while a lotion or cream combines oils and water. You can read more here.

Did you know: Rose is one of the most expensive oils to source because it takes roughly 12,000 rose blossoms to make a single 5ml bottle of essential oil. For that reason, it is most commonly sold diluted in either sunflower or jojoba oil. Jasmine is called "Queen of the Night". The flowers only release their scent after sunset, so they're traditionally picked in darkness, just before dawn.

Curious what these ingredient names mean? We’ve explained the key ones on our About Us page.

To use, warm the bar between your palms for a few seconds, just enough to soften the surface. Glide it over hands, elbows, knees, feet…wherever needs it. Then, use your fingertips to massage the butters and oils into your skin.

One bar goes a long way so we recommend applying the bar sparingly at first until you get a gauge of how much your skin needs. Most people find a 70g bar lasts somewhere between three and six months, depending on how often you use it and how much skin you’re covering each time. That works out to roughly £2.00 to £4.00 per month and no bottle to recycle or replace.

A gentle note on care: these bars are designed for external use only on the body, hands and feet. Keep it away from eyes and mucous membranes and avoid applying it to broken or irritated skin. If you notice any irritation, stop using it and get in touch. As it’s made with essential oils, we’d suggest keeping it out of reach of children under 3 as it is not suitable for their use.

While Sugarbush bars have been carefully formulated to be heat stable, keep your bar somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. It is, after all, mostly butter and oils. If you find your bar starts to slide around its container in the hotter months, you can temporarily store it in the fridge to help maintain its shape. The blog has more info on managing anhydrous cosmetics in the heat.

For the best scent and texture, use within 6 months of opening.
