Lemon Lip Balm

Lemon Lip Balm is clean, sharp and refreshing. It’s the one to reach for when you want something that feels a little more zesty than sweet.

Suits: Suitable for all skin types.

Formulator's note: Lemon is one of my go-to essential oils, not just for skincare but as a staple in house cleaning too. It appears across several of the Sugarbush ranges because it is equally divine on its own as in a blend.  Working with it can be tricky and requires lots of patience. Lemon is particularly volatile so has to be added at much lower temperatures to ensure the fragrance doesn’t evaporate before the final product can set.

What is a lip balm? A concentrated, water-free balm made from plant butter, oil and wax that seals in moisture and protects the lips, rather than a liquid or gloss in a tube.

Did you know: Lemon oil is expressed from the peel and its scent comes largely from a compound called limonene. This single component is the one responsible for the smell of most citrus fruits.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E). Naturally occurring allergens found in essential oils: Citral, Geraniol, Limonene.

Please note: the use of beeswax makes this balm unsuitable for Vegans.

Apply with clean fingertips. Reapply as needed.

A gentle note on care: For external use only. Avoid direct eye contact and application to the mucous membranes or broken skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use. Not suitable for children under the age of 3.

While Sugarbush balms have been carefully formulated to be heat stable, keep yours somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight — it’s mostly butter and oils. If it starts to soften in the hotter months, a short spell in the fridge will firm it back up. The blog has more info on managing anhydrous cosmetics in the heat.

For the best scent and texture, use within 6 months of opening.
